Trustees Corner

PhotoOne of the objectives of our PGIT 411 newsletter is to provide valuable risk management resources to the membership of the trust. This issue of the PGIT 411 offers vital information based upon recent inquiries made to our Safety and Risk Management Team specifically, the pending requirement of all state agencies and public sector employers to comply with OSHA Standards. This is discussed in detail in Mike Marinan’s recap of last years explosion at the Daytona Wastewater Treatment. In addition, request on cell phone usage policies and email policies are discussed in great detail to assist in the development of your entities policies.

At the 1st Annual PGIT Educational Membership conference, Public Risk Underwriters announced the creation of PGIT Academy. My fellow board of trustees and I are committed to providing educational opportunities for the membership of the Trust. We invite all of you to participate in this new initiative for further professional advancement. In addition, thank you to all who attended the PGIT Conference. It was a great experience filled with education and networking. Our next newsletter will spotlight all the various subject matters discussed at the conference.

As we enter our 2007-2008 renewal season, the Board of Trustees and the administrators are diligently negotiating favorable renewal terms and pricing to assure PGIT is the best and most viable public entity insurance program available in the state. Thank you all for continuing your support of PGIT and the work of its administrators.

Sincerly,
Dwight E. “Ed” Wolf, Chair
