Preferred honored as Associate Member of the Year by the Florida Association of Special Districts~Award recognizes organizations that support and enhance the industry~

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. - The Florida Association of Special Districts (FASD) recognized Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust (PGIT) as the 2010 Associate Member of the Year. The award is presented to a company whose continuous support of the association provides the opportunity to meet and exceed the expectations of the FASD membership. The companies nominated for this award represent associate members that exhibit, sponsor, advertise and advise for the betterment of the association and the industry.

“It is an honor to be recognized by FASD,” said Kurt Heyman, Vice President of Marketing for Public Risk Underwriters. “Preferred is committed to providing members with continuing education opportunities. We support the FASD’s Certified District Manager (CDM) program because it ensures Florida Special District Managers are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to successfully serve residents of their districts.”

The FASD plays an important role in developing and expanding the infrastructure provision, as well as conservation and resource management services. The association works to unify and strengthen special purpose government through education, the exchange of ideas and active involvement in the legislative process.

As a way to promote professional development, Preferred sponsored two of its members to go through the FASD/Florida State University Certified District Manager Program – a 36-hour certification program covering a range of topics from Contract Management and Procurement to Project Management, Ethics and Sunshine Law.

“Preferred has gone above and beyond the association’s expectations, demonstrating a clear commitment to our industry,” said Jim Angle, Executive Director, Florida Association of Special Districts. “Its dedication to providing members with enhanced opportunities to grow in their careers is a testament to why Preferred is a successful Florida Trust.”
