Preferred Continues Sponsorship For Certified District Manager Program

2011 marks the 5th year in succession that the Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust has sponsored the Florida Association of Special District's Certified District Manager (CDM) program. The purpose of this program, created in 2004 in conjunction with the Department of Community Affairs, is to ensure that district managers comply with the Florida Statutes governing special taxing districts.

Core subjects in the program include contract management and procurement, project management, intergovernmental affairs, public relations, strategic planning, board relations, ethics and collective bargaining. Preferred provides insurance coverage to over 300 taxing districts in Florida and sees the two CDM scholarships it sponsors as valuable educational assistance for districts statewide in addition to the overall trust.
