Minneola Elementary Charter School Excels in 2016

Sherry Watts, Principal of Minneola Elementary Charter School, a “B” rated school located in Lake County was awarded the 2016 Florida Charter School Champion Award from the Florida Consortium of Public Charter Schools (FCPCS). The award was one of 16 presented at the Florida Charter School Conference, which took place in Daytona Beach, FL. on November 3, 2016.

“The Florida Charter School Champion Awards recognize exceptional individuals and companies who represent the very best aspects of the charter school movement,” said FCPCS President Robert Haag. “The awards ceremony is a huge celebration of their achievements and success.”

Ms. Watts was nominated by her teaching staff as an “exceptional” and “dynamic” leader who “provides opportunities to enrich students through engaging them on multiple levels.” Ms. Watts’ dedication to her students and staff has created an optimum learning environment at her school.

Minneola Elementary Charter School also received the South Lake School Spirit Award at the 2016 South Lake Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, which took place on August 15, 2016 at the FUMC Wesley Center in Downtown Clermont, Florida.

The South Lake Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation Breakfast takes place every year to help kick off the beginning school year and draws over 1,000 South Lake teachers and administrators each year.

As a plus, Minneola Elementary Charter School recently launched a new College Bound Program that Principal Watts learned about at last year’s National Charter School Conference, which has excited and further inspired school faculty and students in achieving academic goals.
